Back Up Home Computers Once A Month

While you might think that your home computer is less important than the one you have at home ? think again. If you?re like one of millions of families, you?re probably using the Internet to pay for and monitor your bills, while also using the word processing programs for documents and school work. What are you going to do if something happens and your previous information is lost? What is your family going to do? It doesn?t seem likely most of the time, but there are plenty of ways that you could lose your information. Information like social security numbers, passport numbers, credit card information, and banking account numbers are all stored on your computer so that you can easily access them. But should something happen, you will lose them and without a back up copy, you might be scrambling to get your life back in order.

Things like fire, computer damage, and power outages can all affect your computer?s memory. Hopefully, none of these situations happen to you, but in the case that they did, wouldn?t you rather be backed up? Wouldn?t it be better if your information was backed up? Because these situations are so unlikely, you may never need your copies, but in the case when you do, you won?t have the additional stress.

Programs like PC BackUp can help you keep your information safe and ready for you whenever you need it. Simply run the program once a month to make copies of all of your important information. You can even run it more frequently if you desire, but for home purposes, once per month seems to be the best advice. The program will collect your information and store it safely so that you always have another copy to use if your computer should ?lose? it.

Because you can?t predict what?s going to happen from day to day, you need to have something to manage your needs when you least expect to need it. With computer software like PC BackUp, you can have a way to protect that crucial information that you always expect to be there.

Audio Books Learning Tool Or Entertainment?

An audio book is a recording of the contents of a book read aloud. In the old times, audio books were usually recorded on tape and were only available in public libraries and bookstores. They were expensive and many popular books simply did not have audio recording. Audio books have traditionally been used as an educational tool to help children to develop their listening skill and vocabulary, and to stimulate their interest in reading. They have also been used for those who have difficulty in reading due to language skill or physical disability. But things have changed in the past few years. Audio books are now available in many formats. Some are recorded on tape or CD and some as digital downloadable files. Most of the new book titles are now available in audio format. The popularity of portable media devices such as Apple iPod and best selling titles such as the Harry Potter series also help to increase public awareness and boost the sales of audio titles considerably in recent years.

Audio books have become more affordable these days. Many audio book clubs offer different membership plans for casual to avid readers / listeners. Like DVD / game rental, audio book rental service allows you to rent unlimited number of audio books per month for a monthly fee. For international listeners, you can download audio books directly into your computer and then upload them to your portable device. Many audio book clubs also offer free audio book download with free trial.

Today, audio book is no longer used as a teaching tool, it provides hours of entertainment to average people. You can listen to a memoir with the author reading out his/her own writing to you. Listen to a thriller with added intensity and emotion, or let your children listen to audio books as bedtime stories. When you are exhausted after a whole day work, you can relax on your sofa and listen to your favourite novels. Or, while you are traveling on a train, shopping in the mall, or waiting in the doctor?s clinic, audio books can become your source of enjoyment in many different occasions.

If you are not keen on reading because of a busy lifestyle, or not being able to read due to some other reasons, an audio book would be a good choice for you. It provides an entertainment that is suitable for people of all ages, reading abilities and lifestyles. And better still, it is more affordable than ever before.

Online storage

Online storage can be an inexpensive option for those people who are running small businesses. Online storage (also known as offsite storage), involves paying a monthly or yearly fee to a web-based backup service who allows you to save and retrieve your files over the Internet.

This kind of service can be a great addition to your pre-existing backup system, allowing you to backup critical files and remove them to a secure, offsite location -- safe from theft and fire. As well, a key focus of these companies is backup redundancy. They have multiple sites where your files are stored, ensuring that if one site fails, the others will still have your files.

With online storage, your files are immediately accessible from any web connected computer, 24 hours a day, 7 days a week. Not only does this make distributing particular files or presentations to your colleagues easier, but it also means that you no longer always need to haul around your heavy laptop computer! Simply connect online from any computer and you can instantly access your files.

Mass Media Violence and Children

Children inform themselves, from early ages, about the surrounding world. The sources they can rely on are different and various like: parents, teachers, friends and mass-media. A plus in attention must be accorded to information gained from the TV, radio and internet. This media means are a valuable informational base but we have to consider the fact that on numerous occasions the news can be aggressive, characterized by violence or treating delicate themes.

Materials that are related to natural catastrophes or kidnappings, homicides, attacks of theorists groups, school violence or amorous relationships of politicians can create confusion in a child’s mind than can develop into a deformed perception on society, considering it a confused and hostile environment.

As a parent you have to think how to contra-attack the effect this sort of news and information as well as the images that go with them. The easiest way to deal with this is through dialog and the little one will in time create a protective “shield” that will avoid the apparition of an emotional misbalance.

Some practical advice:

-	Get your child used to read publications designated to his age category and to watch television programs of the same kind. They are less aggressive.
-	Custom him to analyze carefully all that he hears and to not consider that all information are necessary real just because their way of presentation is a spectacular one.
-	Talk to him about all news events.
-	Try to identify the child’s predilections when it comes to news and his habits as a media consumer.

If you might consider the respective show is not appropriate for the child, then just turn off the TV. But remember this is just a momentary solution! In order to keep your kid out of the media violence you must impose a tight rule about television programs and keep always and eye open for your children everyday activities.

Why do we decorate the Christmas tree?

The habit is probably inherited from the Egyptians that used to decorate their houses with palm tree leaves in the day of the astrological winter. The habit was taken by the Romans that used instead of palm trees the conifers.

But the story really begins around the 7th century when a monk from Devonshire came to Germany to teach the word of the Lord. Legend says that he used the triangular form of the Christmas tree to symbolize religious meanings. In the Europe of the 12th century, on Christmas day, the Christmas tree was installed upside down, hanging down from the ceiling!

It appears the tree was first decorated at Riga in 1510. At the beginning of the 16Ith century, M. Luther decorated the tree with candles to suggest to his children the sparklings of the stars in the sky.

At the middle of the 16th century, in Germany, appear the first markets specialized in selling presents for Christmas, usually food or objects of practical use.

Christmas decorations that were meant to suggest snow were invented in Germany in 1610. At that time not only they were silvery, but they were also made out of silver. There were invented machines to make thin silver strings for the tree. Silver lasted long but it oxidized very quickly, so they tried to ally it with cooper and zinc, but the product was so heavy that it just broke under the action of his own weight. So silver was used till the middle of the 20th century.

In Great Britain, the Christmas tree came along with merchants that originated from Germany and settled in England. Decorating the Christmas tree meant silver ornaments, candles and pearl-like ribbons all produced in Germany and Eastern Europe at the time. The custom said that every family member or invited person had to have a little tree placed on the table in front of him, with the presents besides it.

In 1846, Queen Victoria and Prince Albert – both born in Germany - appear in "Illustrated London News", along with their children, all around the Christmas tree. The popularity of the regal family made this custom to spread fast among the people. The tree became a fashion matter not only in the Britain Islands, but also on the eastern coast of America.

Decorations were of a huge variety. Mostly home made because they were expensive at the time. Young ladies spent hours cutting paper snowflakes and stars, folding presents envelopes and paper supports for candy.

In America, the Christmas tree appears around 1747, in German communities from Pennsylvania, but it spreads only along with the development of communications, at the middle of the 19th century.

In 1882 the electric light bowl is invented and in 1892 it is adapted for the Christmas tree.
And so, we get to our present tree that combines all the elements presented above in the most ingenious and creative mixtures.

Xbox 360

At the October 4th 2005 X 05 events in Amsterdam, the gaming industry felt that Microsoft would use this event to announce the Xbox 360 games lineup for its release in North America and Europe. The problem with that is it didn’t happen. In its place is more confusion on the Xbox 360 games that will be available.

Peter Moore the corporate vice president of Xbox marketing and publishing bragged that there were 200 Xbox 360 games in development. At the same time Chief Xbox officer Robbie Bach just promised they would have the best games and launch lineup of any console yet. But neither would list all the games that will go on sale November 22 at the launch of the Xbox 360 in the United States.

Now to add to the confusion is a Microsoft press release titled “Xbox 360 launch line-up announced”. It has only three first party games listed under a heading a heading of “Titles that will form part of an impressive Christmas holiday portfolio. Project Gotham Racing 3, Perfect Dark Zero and Kameio Elements of Power. Then they have a second categlry of games called “Other great games announced or shown at X05 that included FIFA 06, Saint’s Row, Too Human, Crackdown just to name a few.

The finally the release listed a third category, “Franchise titles that will make their debut on Xbox 360” this included Superman Returns: The Videogame, Call of Duty 2, Tom Clancy’s Splinter Cell 4 and more. Now the fact that about half of these have 2006 release dates and some were just announced it would be impossible for the game to be contained in the Xbox 360 launch lineup as the title indicates.

A effort to clear up the confusion David Reid, director of platform marketing for the Xbox 360 was asked exactly what games would be available at the launch. He stated there would be 15-20 Xbox 360 titles available on launch day and another half–dozen by the end of the year. So more double speak? He would only confirm eight being available on November 22. They are Project Gotham Racing 3, Kameo, Perfect Dark Zero, Madden NFL 06, NBA Live 06, Tiger Woods PGA Tour 06, Need for Speed Most Wanted, and FIFA 06: Road to FIFA World Cup.

As for the other seven to twelve Xbox 360 games that were to be available, Reid stated they would be announced in the next few weeks. According to him “They are currently in the final stages of certification” this is referring to the quality assurance process all third party games must go through from each console maker. With that said it would be likely if any of the submitted games that were not mentioned did not pass this process it will not be available at the time of Xbox 360 release on November 22 in North America.

The decision to rush games is a two headed sword. On one hand, release dates are made for a reason: to take advantage of a holiday sales season. On the other hand, thanks to word of mouth and game sites the gamer of today can tell if a game was rushed and a games reputation can be destroyed faster than it was built. In the Xbox 360’s case there has been an extreme amount of pre release publicity and hype, which will make or break the success of the console and games themselves.

Three of the games that were verified to be available on release date are Microsoft titles and they would have an advantage. But none of the twelve titles are make or break titles for the Xbox 360 so the console should be spared, and hopefully PS3 will have the same launch questions.

As with any Microsoft release the Xbox 360 is shrouded in rumor, speculation, and expectation. Microsoft fuels this by being very closed mouth with any specific information. It looks like right now we can just sit and wait.

Xbox 360 Game Previews - Ridge Racer 6

As a game that has normally launched with Sony platforms, this new Ridge Racer is a big addition for Microsoft. While it's nothing new or unique, Ridge Racer fans are going to love playing their favorite racer in hi-definition on the Xbox 360.

The Xbox 360 Ridge Racer 6 will have a total of about thirty tracks and no less than 130 cars (this is including eight “special machines”), these you’ll need to unlock in the game’s single player “World Xplorer” mode. Every race in this mode will be shown as a hexagon on a large, irregularly shaped map; from there you’ll be able to pick your own route thru the game as you progress.

This means you will be able to skip a large number of events if you want to, but you are discouraged from that by the presence of the unlockable items that you can access once you win all the races around the bonus icons on the map.

The game will feature new cars and tracks, the controls are based off of the recent PSP game, this is a good thing. For example, you have the same three-level boost meter, and it's possible to reverse steer into curves to spin your car around in a 360 and show off on your way through them. The game plays very well with the Xbox 360 controller with the right trigger being used to fuel your super boosts.

Standard races in Ridge Racer 6 will boast of a total of fourteen cars, but as in previous games, you will be going up against some very challenging opposition head to head on some occasions. Class 1 will be the slowest of four classes in Ridge Racer 6. The pace will be slowed considerably but there still is a good sense of speed thanks to the games 60 frames per second. It is especially noticeable if you use the car’s nitrous system. Just like in the PSP version is highlighted by sensational slides around corners. Then at the end of the race you are treated to great replays that showed off all your great skids and slides from many different camera angles.

Other game play modes in Ridge Racer 6 will focus mainly on online competition and will include heat to head online races, as well as a global time attack mode that will let you match your best race times against players from around the world using a leader board system.

As with any other next generation game, there is a question of how the graphics will look. In the case of Ridge Racer 6 there were some minor issues. The backgrounds were not as detailed as in some racers, but this has never been a big focus point. There are enough of the usual planes and helicopters along with some great There were some jagged edges arcross the top of the car, but with several weeks to go before launch it is fairly sure that the issue will be resolved by the time it hits the store shelves.

The Xbox 360 launch day is full of racing games. Such as Need for Speed: Most Wanted, Test Drive: Unlimited, Project Gotham Racing 3, Full Auto, and Ridge Racer 6 and they all are trying for your racing dollars. After seeing Ridge Racer we felt that it is a clear winner in the racing genre.

It has been told the game will support at least 10 players simultaneously and new content will be available via the Xbox Live Marketplace system. At this time there is no word as to if you will have to pay for the extra goods or if it will be a special bonus included with the purchase of the game. Scheduled for release in November many of the Ridge Racer 6’s features have not been finalized as of yet.

Need a Vacation?

Woked hard for a year? Now you need a vacation to relief all that stress and to try and come back with memories worth sharing with friends.

Getting your family along, if you have one, implies the fact that you must consult them when decind upon a location. Suprises are always welcomed, but if you have children and you decide to spent your vacation in a city that has nothing fun to offer them, them the surprise turns into a nightmare. Going away from friends, even if for a week, seems to chldeern something that requires an effort, so try and make then want that vacation by offering them exciting new things to do, things thatcand combine education and pleasure.

Once you have chosen your location, keep in mind that the wheather there might be different from the one in your own country. In the mountains it always tends to be a little cold even in the summer and you should bring along clothes that go with that kind of wheather. if, on the contrary you are going to tropical and hot locations, do not forget an umbrella. In these places, although it is summer for almost the entire year, it usually rains a lot and you don’t want a heavy rain to get you sick.

There are wonderful places to visit all around the world. If budget allows it, you can make a trip around the world to visit the seven world’s wonders, it is always worth it. The Pyramids for instance are mysterious buidings, dated since the ancient Egyptians, enclosing a tehnology and architecture that can be hardly matched even today. Go and walk through these world wonders to try and elucidate the mystery, to see for youself the simplicity of the people and the splendor of the country.

Vacation can be spent at home also. We can just relax and catch up on lost sleep if we feel too exhausted to travel. Meeting friends, barbecues, sitting by the pool and playing with children will make us forget the hard year that passed.

Natural Christmas Ornaments

Are you tired of decorating the room with the Christmas tree in the same colors and with the same ornaments year after year? It means you are ready to try a change and why not trying some natural elements that emphasize the beauty of a wonderful season.

To achieve your change of scenery you can use this time materials from your own garden. Or from the green area placed near your house. You will need more imagination and resourcefulness than ever to find the ornaments hidden out there because winter often tends to cover them.

Very appropriate for creating ornaments are dried leaves, ornamental plants, tree branches and fruits. If properly and creatively arranged, they will be the perfect choice.
For a plus in color, you can add flowers with well-known resistances, which will last throughout the holidays, giving a fresh note to your ornaments. And this way the ornament has a natural feeling, a perfume that reminds of the forest and of the garden full of flowers. And it is all for free!

You can enrich this ornament with fruits and vegetables in attractive colors. Or just add some cherries and yellow or green apples, pears and bananas. That should give you a colorful combination that can last a while.

Every time you use little braches in your arrangement don’t forget to slice a little the part that will go in the water vase. This way you will stimulate absorption and make your ornament last longer.

It is better that these ornaments that will rule over the Christmas dinner are not very tall, so they would not get in the way of eating and talking to each other. If there is some ornament you don’t want to give up although it is very tall you can place it near by, on an accent table. This way it is going to be admired by your guests without getting in their way.

Just try to be creative and with no money at all you will come up with never seen before ornaments that will indeed make holidays special and unique!
